How Much Does Concrete Resurfacing Cost?

Concrete Resurfacing Cost

A clear, no-surprises breakdown of what you’ll actually pay to transform cracked, aging concrete

Cracked grey concrete does not have to mean a full tear-out. Concrete resurfacing cost is one of the first questions homeowners across Central Virginia ask us, and for good reason: resurfacing can restore a driveway, patio, or pool deck to a like-new finish for a fraction of what demolition and replacement would run. This guide breaks down real pricing by project size and material so you know roughly what to expect before you ever request a quote.

Concrete Resurfacing Cost By Project Size

Resurfacing pricing is quoted per square foot, and the rate actually drops as your project gets larger, since prep work and mobilization are spread across more area. Our most common system is Vuba Stone in a pedestrian application, a UV-stable polyurethane topping that will not yellow or turn brittle in direct sun.

Project SizeVuba PedestrianVuba VehicleRubber Stone
300 to 600 sq ft$18/sq ft$22/sq ft$19/sq ft
600 to 1,000 sq ft$17/sq ft$21/sq ft$18/sq ft
1,000 to 1,500 sq ft$16/sq ft$20/sq ft$17/sq ft
1,500+ sq ft$15/sq ft$19/sq ft$16/sq ft

Price varies by size and surface type. There is a $5,000 project minimum, and we offer a 5% discount for military and first responders.

What’s Included in Every Resurfacing Price

A lower quote from another company can look appealing until prep work shows up as a separate charge once the crew is grinding down your old surface. That is a common surprise in this industry, and it is exactly what we build out of the process. Every Concrete Wizard price includes three things up front:

  • Prep work included: Grinding off an old coating or profiling the existing slab is part of the quoted price, not billed separately once we start.
  • Six year warranty: Every resurfacing project is backed in writing for six years, so you are covered well past the first few seasons.
  • First recoat included: The polyurethane resin coat needs a fresh layer every five to six years to keep performing. That first recoat, year five for Rubber Stone and year six for Vuba Stone, is already built into your original price.

Resurfacing vs. Full Replacement: Why the Savings Add Up

Full demolition and replacement means jackhammering out your existing slab, hauling away the debris, and pouring and curing brand new concrete, a process that can take days longer and cost significantly more per square foot than resurfacing. Resurfacing systems like Vuba Stone and Rubber Stone bond directly to your existing concrete, asphalt, wood, or tile, so there is no demo, no dumpster, and no multi-day curing window before you can use the space again.

Beyond the upfront savings, resurfacing is also the more eco-conscious option. Rubber Stone repurposes recycled tire rubber, and permeable systems like Vuba Stone let water drain through the surface instead of pooling or running off, which matters in a region that deals with real freeze-thaw cycles and seasonal storms.

Design Add-Ons That Affect Your Final Price

Most resurfacing quotes are straightforward, but a few common upgrades are priced separately from the base square footage rate:

  • Copings: $35 per linear foot
  • Bull nose copings: $45 per linear foot
  • Vertical coping (0 to 6 inches): $30 per linear foot
  • Crack stitch repair: $20 per linear foot
  • Border or color change: $10 per linear foot
  • Pool hooks with rings: $15 per hook
